Gajit has started a dance career by participating in the television reality show agan, also participated in another tv reality show, khoji pratibhako, in 2010. He was the first runner-up in the show for the best acting category.

Then gajit started acting in feature film. His debutant film is maya's bar, which was released in jul 27, 2012. In it he starred alongside rajesh hamal, karishma manandhar and nisha adhikar as the male lead. Maya's bar was directed by dinesh dc. Maya's bar was hit in box office with positive response from critics and audience. Maya's bar won verious award in this year. Similarly gajit earned the best male debut award for his performance. Since then he went on to receive critically and commercially success with verious movies. Like supari, love forever, punarjanma, dhauli, love you baba, adhakatti, hairan etc. .

Regarded as the highest-paid actor in nepali film and music industry, gajit has received some awards for his various character in movie and music video. His role in the movie maya's bar, punarjanma having award in the best male actor category. Similarry music video bedana ko bhel, timile chham chham, maya ma ramne gara having award in the best model in music video category.

Apart from being an actor, gajit is also an choreographer, story writer, producer and director.
